  Human ES cells were differentiated into endothelial cells using the protocol of Patsch et al.. CD144 + cells were isolated from the heterogeneous mixture of differentiated cells using CD144 (VE-Cadherin) MicroBeads, an LS Column, and a MidiMACS Separator. For detection of endothelial cells, cells were fluorescently labeled with CD31-APC and analyzed using the MACSQuant ® Analyzer. Cell debris and dead cells were excluded from the analysis based on scatter signals and propidium iodide fluorescence.
