IL-22 producing cells, such as certain subtypes of T cells, dendritic cells (DCs), NK cells and other innate lymphoid cells are analyzed using the IL-22 Secretion Assay starting from whole blood, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), or other lymphocyte-containing single cell preparations. Interleukin 22 (IL-22) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine of the IL-10 superfamily. As such it is essential for the stimulation of inflammatory responses. Acting mainly on non-hematopoietic cells, such as hepatocytes, keratinocytes, and lung and intestinal epithelial cells and is known to be expressed in many chronic inflammatory conditions, including Psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.
